A Corporations Social Responsibility to Stakeholders Essay

Abstract This paper is a view on how to approach the CEO, directors and managers of a potential defective product. It will provide insight on the process of identifying the product, potential recall and the responsibility to notify the consumer. A Corporations Social Responsibility to Stakeholders Introduction One of the many things a manufacturing company has to worry about is producing defective products. If a company has produced defective products, it is in their best interest to find out and address the issue before their customers find out. If the company find and address the issue first they can limit the amount of lost trust and credibility. By the consumers finding out first it could take the company years or maybe never to repair the damage to their reputation. With new products becoming available for consumers the manufacturers must take the necessary precautions to insure their customer’s safety. How would you effectively present the issue of potentially defective products to the CEO, other directors, and managers? Prior to this meeting I would do an extensive research of the product such as retrieve any complaints from consumers if there were any and analyze them to determine if it was the same issue or random problems. My next step would be get the time frame when the potentially defective product was produced along with the location (s), retrieve all test results regarding the product. Creating a presentation of the information that was gathered in my research would be beneficial. 1.What the specific defect is 2.What caused defect 3.Location of products 4.Reason for failure to comply with regulation Equipped with the Recall Handbook from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPDC) I would present the information in a group setting to the CEO, directors and managers. The type of liability claim should be identified as well whether it is ((defective product design, defective product manufacturing, and failure/negligence to warn of product defect)) (Product Liability, n.d.). When presenting the information to the CEO, directors and managers I would be specific in regards to what the defect is, and plans for a product recall. How would you specifically notify customers of such an occurrence? The removal of defective products from the market is the responsibility of the company. A designated recall coordinator should be appointed. This person has the responsibility to recall products that may be deemed defective or unsafe. The obligations and responsibilities of a company that has a potentially defective product have been set forth by the CPSC. If it is determined the product needs to be recalled I would follow the guidelines pursuant to the Consumer Protection Safety Act (CPSA) pursuant to Section 15(b). which is The Fast Track Product Recall Program (Recall Handbook, 1998). This section is for companies that discover they have a defective product and pro-actively initiate a remedy. With the help of the CPSC I would What kind of internal actions would you take to prevent future problems? I believe that preventing future problems and defects is the responsibility of the quality control department. Insure quality control is follows the processes and guidelines of the department. Make sure that there are in-process inspections as well as final inspections. Overhaul the process of how you inspection. Review your sampling plan, and insure that the sampling plan that is in place is the right one for the product and your business. To insure a good product I would setup process capability studies (CpK) to insure the product meets design specifications. Quality control is a key factor in preventing low standards and defective products. What can be done to ensure that a strong sense of business ethics permeates your company? You need just to check the news to see the how ethics can affect the business world. Examples are Johnson & Johnson, Dow Corning (DC) and many other business have come to the brink of ruin because they lacked the business ethics to put public safety in fro nt of their self interest and those of their companies. The focus of a company is dictated by the ethical principles the company adopt. These principles should permeate the company and affect the decisions the company makes (Nixon, 2009). Senior management set the ethical principles and culture of a business. Insure your business senior officers believe in business sustainability, not because of lower cost but because it is the virtuous thing to do. Senior officers should implement their principles and ethics consistently throughout the company which will make their organization true to principles and authentic while making the organization transparent. The transparency of your organization allows your stakeholder to decide if they want to do business with you. PERSUASIVE WRITING INTRODUCTION A persuasive essay is one where the writers chooses a side on particular argument or issue and tries to convince the reader to support the same side on the argument. The most  successful  and effective persuasive essay appeals to both the readers’ logic and emotions. Persuasive writing is also referred to as creative writing or simply an argument in which the writer was penetrating words and phrases to woo the readers into believing or supporting the writers’ opinion. Therefore by being consistent the readers will realise that you are rational and have integrity about your writing hence they are easily convinced.Arguments supported with statistics and citation of sources of information: when writing a persuasive essay it is very important to support your arguments with statistics to instil a sense of trust in your readers. It also shows the reliability of your essay and this will leave t he readers with no choice but to agree with your opinion. Citation of sources enhances professionalism and strengthens the credibility of your essay hence the readers are easily convinced. CONCLUSIONWith the structure of persuasive writing it is important that it is organised, straight forward, convincing and all the points should be supported. The equity market of Australia is operated largely by its organized stock exchange, the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX). Trade of ASX stocks takes place on a fully competitive and automated order-driven trading system, known as the Stock Exchange Automated Trading System (SEATS) (Elvis Jarnecic, June 1999). Trading is facilitated through the placement of a purchase order by a market participant with a broker, either by way of telephone or online through the internet, on regular trading days. In contrast, the New York Stock Exchange or NYSE operates under a hybrid market structure. Kaj Hedvall (CEFA, 2006) defines hybrid markets as a specialists market and the NYSE as an order-driven, floor-based, continuous market with specialists. Also known as an auction market; these specialists converge on the floor of NYSE to facilitate the reporting of bids and asks, execute the trade and maintain order on the floor.   NASDAQ, on the other hand, is a quote-driven, dealer market. At present, there are over 500 dealers-also called market-makers, composed of large investment companies, who buys and sells shares of stocks through a personal inventory of NASDAQ-listed stocks to earn a profit from a regulated bid/ask spread.   NASDAQ is the largest scree n-based market in the United States. Screen-based means that there is no physical location, but trading is based on computers and other communication mediums (Block, S et al, 2002). Thus, NASDAQ market makers conduct the exchange not through a physical trading floor, but by way of an electronic network. While each security under Nasdaq has an average of 14 market makers competing against each other, only one specialist is designated to every NYSE-listed stock. It can be observed that Australia operates a purely order-driven market while the major exchanges of the USA, conduct trading in a purely quote-driven market for NASDAQ and a cross between the two pure market models, the hybrid market, a structure of the NYSE.   The advantage of an order-driven market is the inherent transparency of the system since all buy and sell orders of participants are posted on the market, providing information on which prices investors are willing to buy or sell shares. The upper and even middle class Essay Ever since the beginning of civilization, there has been a difference in economic and social, creating two separate classes. The wealthier and educated made up the upper status of society making up what is today called upper class. The poor and uneducated made up the people which were often looked down upon by the upper class, and now make up what is considered lower class. This was true in the earliest times of the bible, through the Renaissance time period and even to today. It is nearly impossible for the lower class to become higher class, much less middle class, without being provided a full education by the higher classes. Why can these people of lower class never achieve crossing the class boundary? Most of lower class does not have an education. Therefore their opportunities for having profitable and non-dead-end jobs are nearly impossible by all standards. Because of their lower education, their job selection is limited to mostly manual labor, where pay is minimal, at best. Due to their low-paying salaries, a good college education is usually completely out of the question for their children. College is too much money and they got along fine without a college education, which is sometimes the case, but severely limits future opportunities for their children. Lower class is a vicious cycle. These people represent the people in the cave which can only see the shadows of what is happening around them. They are never allowed out to see the light of a true education, and have to remain in the dark all of their lives. The upper and even middle class, which usually has a good education, have the duty to show the lower class the light and to get these people out of the shadows for good. This can and is being done minutely to help the uneducated by providing scholarships, but for the most part no one is doing anything to help the less fortunate. Unfortunately, today has a very everyone for themselves attitude. Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for life. We need to be concerned for their future, if no one else is, because their future depends solely on their education. We need to make it our goal as a society to educate the uneducated. If everyone is educated then there is equal opportunity and pay therefore eliminating social class. If the enlightened educated class can just come into the cave, relate with the people, and then actually show them the light, rather than telling them what to do, we can actually make a positive difference and make the lives of a lower class citizen much easier. The easiest solution to this problem is to create a utopian society, but those are bound to fail before even being attempted. A utopian society would completely obliterate the class system, because everyone would receive equal pay and equal education, or at least opportunity for education. The best suggestion that is plausible and possible is to create countless scholarships. It would be just like the armed forces; education is free but a certain amount of service is demanded in return. Even though everyone does not have money, everyone has time. All education can be provided by the state and the jobs, needed by the state, can be filled by the graduated students. This can potentially give an education to everyone and keep the jobs needed. It is a win-win situation. If someone could just show society and our leaders the light.

I am proud to be an Indian because of its rich culture and heritage. There are seven different classical dance forms in india – Bharata Natyam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali, Odissi, Mohiniattam, Manipuri and Kathak. I am blessed to be a part of this culture. It is my mother who developed this art in me. I have also learnt other dance forms such as Western and Folk. It is through dance that I find inner peace and true happiness. This art form gave me beautiful opportunities. I have represented my country in Dubai, France and Finland International festivals. Being a part of these festivals made me realize even if we have language barrier the language of dance bridged the gap between us. I’ve explored many cultures, their way of living, their way of life through this art. Dance needs no interpretation. Dance is also one of the strongest medium to pass a message. I believe one must use this art for a good cause. Famous dancers such as Hema Malini, Helen, Vayjantimala, Shri Gopal Krishna, Smt Rukhmani Devi, Shri Birju Maharaj are respected for their contribution. Dance taught me to correct myself. It has developed in me the ability of working towards excellence. I’ve acquired certain skills from this art which I believe are my competencies as a manger such as confidence, self-presentation, and an ability to cope with criticism and learn from it.
